Welcome to xlr8_arts dance studio and thank you for taking the time to read my story. My name is Christopher Horsey and I have been a performing arts teacher for over 35 years. I began my teaching career as a teeneger teaching dance and the performing arts at my Mum’s (Kay Horsey’s Coastal Dance Theatre) dance studio on the Gold Coast. It’s in my blood and I haven’t stopped teaching ever since. 

Having taught all ages at dozens of dance studios, performing arts schools, institutions, colleges and universities throughout Australia and the world, I have clocked up well over 10K hours of teaching. 

2022 will be the first time I have committed to starting my own dance studio. A place where I can consolidate my decades of knowledge and experience into our own performing arts family adding value to the community and enriching the lives of this corner of Melbourne - a place my wife, myself and our 2 children call home. 

I strongly believe in kindness, professionalism and guiding each student to find their individual strengths at their own pace in a safe space. At xlr8_arts dance studio, obstacles are opportunities, mistakes are where the magic happens and success is measured by happiness. 

Key goals and ability targets are used in all performing arts training but these are incorporated into the holistic philosophy and priority is given to the creation of a space that serves the individual while encouraging a sense of teamwork. 

Finally, as this is our inaugural year, there may be some teething problems with the system and administration. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we streamline our process.
